Hermit - Junior

This is my 5th Hermit - JUNIOR.
Got him on last Friday 19 October 2007.
I named him Junior because of his similar shell with Checkers.
He has a nice Greyish Blue colour body, which I like.
Junior is also a little too big for his shell from what I observe. He can't squeeze all the way in.
Just wait and see if he does change to other shell.
Below are Junior First few steps in his new home.

My Hermits

This is Silver - The Hermit Crab.
Also my very first Hermit.
Initally, I brought only one.
But the hermit seems lonely and I read the FAQ about hermit that they live better in community.
Best to keep 2 or more.
So 2 hours later, I went back to the aquarium shop to get 1 more. Whom I named "Goblin".
See the pictures - Goblin moving around checking its new enviroment.


















When I introduce a new tankmate.
Silver immediately reacted to Goblin.


The very next day, I decided that 2 more would be merrier, so here comes "Brownie & Checkers."
Picture shown 2 hermits freshly clean after a"Bath" I gave them.
After cleaning, they were both introduce into the tank with Silver & Goblin.
















With four hermits under one roof, I got them a bigger tank.
They need 2 types of water - fresh & saltwater.
Also added a few bigger shells in case they need a bigger home.

AstroBoy Characters

Mini AstroBoy's History
1928 - Created of AstroBoy : Osamu Tezuka (1928-1989) born, Japan
1947 - Tezuka publishes New Treasure Island comic, sells 400,000 copies.
1951 - "Tetsuwan Atom" makes his first appearance in 1951. He was later name "Astro Boy"
1960's - Astro Boy is animated in black and white. Total 193 episodes. Broadcasting ends in 1966. This is also the first Japan TV Anime.
1982 - Colour version of Astro Boy anime. Total 50 episodes.
1989 - Osamu Tezuka dies. He created 150,000 pages of manga comic art and 60 animations. He was name "God of Manga"

















Who's Who in the Astro Boy Anime :
Astro Boy / Tetsuwan Atom
Astro has a sense of morality, ability to tell what's right and wrong. Astro is a super powered robot, with seven secret super powers and designed to look exactly like Toby (son of Dr. Boynton). Dr. Boyton treated Astro as a replacement for his son who died in a car accident. But Astro Boy was clumsy and inability to control his strength lead to separation with Dr. Boyton. Astro was later forced to work in Hameggs' Robot Circus but was later rescue by Dr. Elefun.

Doctor Boyton / Dr. Umataro Tenma
Dr. Boynton worked on creating a robot that would act and behave like a human. Working to obtain his goal, Dr. Boyton neglected his son Toby, forgetting his promise to take Toby to the amusement park. Toby decides to go on his own and crashes the robot car. Toby was killed in the accident.
Dr. Boyton created Astroboy and raised him as his own child. This causes him to lose his position as the Ministry of Science.
He continues to work on the boy robot but Astro inability to control his own strength and unable to grow begins to anger Dr. Boynton, and while on a cruise Dr. Boynton disowned Astro.

Dr. O'Shay / Dr. Elefun / Dr. Ochanomizu
He succeeded Dr. Boynton as Minister of Science, Dr. Elefun rescues Astro Boy from Hameggs' Robot Circus. Dr. Elefun fights for robot rights. He is very kind and famous for his big nose. Dr. Elefun also provides Astro Boy with a family, creating him parents and sister, Uran.

Daddy Walrus / Albert Duncan
Daddy Walrus is Astro's teacher, real name Albert Duncan. Also a good friend of Dr. Elefun and fights for robot rights.
He is a trained martial artist in Judo. Cares for Astro and Uran and willingly risk his life for them.

Astro's Parents
Astro Boy's robotic parents built by Dr. Elefun.

Uran
Uran is Astro's little sister built by Dr. Elefun as a gift to Astro on New Year's Day.
She is lively, mischevious and quite a tomboy.
Uran is also capable of experiencing human emotions.

Jump
Jump used to be Toby's dog. After Toby death, Jump lives with Astro and his family.

Atlas
Atlas was created by Walpur Guiss using Astros original design plans (stolen), making him & Astro "Brothers".
Walpur Guiss installed Omega Factor into Atlas making him to defy the robot laws.
Atlas later rebelled from his master and rebuilt himself to be more powerful.
Atlas tried to persuade Astro to help him conquer the world. Astro refused.

Livian
Livian is Atlas' companion but she is compassionate by nature.
Livian has alerted Astro many times of Atlas plans.
She is also the one to discover that Astro and Atlas are brothers (built using the same blueprint).

Walpur Guiss
Guiss is an evil scientist and the creator of Atlas and Livian.

Skunk
Skunk is an escaped criminal under the most wanted list in Japan.
Skunk wanted to destroy Astro for having foiling his evil schemes.

Inspector Gumshoe / Inspector Tawashi
Inspector Gumshoe is head of the Tokyo Police Department. Usually arresting Astro.
Due to his opposition to Tokyo's robotic population, Gumshoe & Dr Elefun often engages in arguments.
Gumshoe finally accept Astro's courage and abilities, even asking for his assistance in some cases.

Chief McClaw / Inspector Nakamura
Chief McClaw is Gumshoe's assistant.
Frequently take good side for Astro Boy.

Mini Lobster (Crayfish)

This is my pet lobster - RED. A freshwater crayfish.
Brought it sometime last month, late August 2007.
It easy to maintain and eats it's special pellets food.
Red is still rather shy & timid, so everytime I got to move real slow when I pass the tank.
Had wanted to buy 1 more to accompany RED but I read from the net that it is best kept alone.
Two will lead to fights and eventually death as they are very territorial.

Provide sand for burrowing and rocks for hiding is recommended.
Active at night, bottom dwellers.
They are egg layers
Red Lobsters are scavengers, omnivorous.
Will prey on small and slow moving fishes.
Can be breed in aquariums.
Eggs takes about 21 days to hatch and contains a few hunded eggs.
Have the ability to regenerate lost limbs.

Time to write something

Aha.... it's been almost a month.
I haven't post anything.
Would say this is a quite busy month.
Then again, it can't be so consider busy, I was just lazing around.
Playing my DS most of the time ....
But I also did spent alot of my time on my aquariums.
Taking care of my shrimps tank.
Brought a red lobster ... but later found out it was actually a crayfish.
2 of my Marine fishes Died !!(Clown Trigger & Blueface Trigger). So sad..
They were down with white spot.
So I'm left with 2 marine fishes & 1 tubeworm in the tank.
Hummm... also just got crazy over hermit crabs.
Brought 2 on 21 September 2007 Friday & 2 more today.
They are cute. Haven't give them any names.
Sometimes when you picked them up to talk to them, they actually will come out and look at you.
What I enjoy about keeping Hermit Crabs is that creating a landscape for them is fun.
They don't really move around much after settling down.
So creating a colourful tank is good. Looks more lively.
I was at East Coast Seaside this afternoon.
Was hoping to find some hermit crabs.... NONE !!!
Got some nice seashells though.
Will post some of their pictures later.

All for Crystal Red Shrimps

My aquarium craze.... the tiny crystal red shrimps. Started keeping them early January this year.
My friend has a planted tank full of shrimps. It was so COOL and it motivates me !!!
Frankly speaking, I'm the lazy lazy type, that's why I never had a planted aquarium because I find it very troublesome. But now, it's all for the love of the crystal shrimps...........
I had actually tried to keep them without plants but it seems that the shrimps will die about one week or so.
So I hope with this planted tank it will be a suitable environment for them to live in. Set up this tank planted tank w/ electronic CO2 only on 27 August 2007. Now this tank only have 2 cherry shrimps that I've transferred from my 1ft tank. I want to wait for the water to be more stable before introducing any crystal shrimps. Too much casualties had happened before, so I have to be more patient.

Previously, this tank used to house some fishes and very easy to care for plant. As you can see below. These plant last about 6 months. I only put in one Co2 tablet once a week for them. Fishes here are then transferred to my 4ft tank to live with Discus and Angel fishes.




























This is a mini tank 1 ft tank that I used to keep shrimps for the past 8 months. The tiny plants in front rot and make a mess out of the tank. I rearranged the tank just now and as you can see the water still blur. (See the 2 picture below). I brought 12 on friday, four died and I transferred 2 to the Boyu tank. So I'm left with 6 cherry shrimps in this tank.

Death of Pokemon

Just Kidding..... These are my Pokemon out of the shelfs.
All is in a mess as I was arranging the cabinet.
Threw all out and it looks colourful on the floor, so I just snap a picture.
Just in case you are wondering, all the Pokemon are now back into the shelf.

Happy Birthday Singapore !

Just finished watching the live telecast of National Day Special.
This year, due the the old stadium at Kallang was to be tear down.
We have our National Day at the Marina Bay, on a floating stage.
So it's for the first time and it's rather unique.
I think the geography is good there.
With water front view, the fireworks look superb.
I couldn't get a ticket this year to watch. Signed!
Would love to take some pictures of the fireworks.
This is Singapore 42th years old birthday.

Astro Boy - My Starting

Whew, just make it in time for posting.
1 more minute and I'll be late to celebrate my very own Astro Boy day !!
Brought some Astro Boy figures today 08 08 2007.
Nice date, right.
I did have some astro toys some years ago but I need to search for them.
Not many but that's at least better than none !
So my latest collection is Astro Boy.
My friends wonder how I can get into my room.
Say the truth, it is really in a mess.
Toys on the floor, on the shelf, on the table, on the carpet...... arhhhhh..
I am so lazy these days that I just lay around playing my DS.......

Sunday Trip

I went for a 1 day trip to Malaysia on Sunday, 5 August 2007.
Even though Singapore is so near to Malaysia, I didn't visit for maybe about 6 years.
Well, the reason I wanted to go there was to get some PEZ or candy toys.
I was able to get some there and also brought some star wars.
For candys toys that were manufactured locally was rather cheap.
Huge toy on top of a little candy stick.
Managed to get 4 pez at toys r us. it's a christmas winter set.
Included Santa Claus, Rindeer, Snowman & Icee Bear.
Icee bear was a PEZ that I've been looking for a long time.
Toys like star wars is almost the same price as the shopping in singapore, pez alike.
Take the Star Wars Galatic Heroes for example.
Singapore is selling S$10.00 and Malaysia is selling RM$19.90.
So it is really not much cheaper but you can get many good star wars characters there.
Singapore will be more difficult to find.

All in all, finding the toys I want was an enjoyable trip.
