Post Updated on 11 May 2008, 5th July 2008, 31 July 2008, 27 December 2008, 11 February 2009, 30 March 2009, 9 December 2009

On the 3rd of May 2008, I visited a toy museum.
I'm so captivated by the tin toys there especially Tin Toys Robots!
I decided I really want to keep some robots!
Aha...that makes me a 3 day old newie in this collecting circle!
Coming home with with my 1st robot - Planet Robot, I was telling my friends "I'll only buy one robot a month!"
So in 1 year, I would have 12 Robots!!!
I needed to control myself!!!
But I was not able to make it!
The next day I brought another 2 robots and 1 book on robots!
If by calulation, I would have to wait till August before I can get another robot!
Being an impulsive Aries, I'm not sure if I can last till August but I'll try.
Fascinated by all these tin toy robots.
I've entered in "Space" and place where there's countless of possibilities or danger!!!
There are some many different types of robots, vintage, old, new and reproduction…
Prices varies from a few dollars to thousands of dollars.
The history of tin toys robots…
Plus many different manufacturers and country of origin.
I'm…well… Lost in Space!

PLANET ROBOT
Brand : MOST
Size : 22 cm (H)

Planet Robot origins from the 1956 movie "Forbidden Planet" Home to a scientist Dr. Edward Morbius, his daugther Altaira and a robot named "ROBBY."
Robby robot suit was also in a movie called "The Invisible Boy" and some TV shows.
My FIRST Tin Toy Robot!
There was many robots for sale in the museum and I was rather confused as to buy which one???
The owner told me that this robot has a production run of only 500 pcs for this Blue colour.
Since blue also happened to be one of my favourite colour, I brought it and thus begins my Robot journey!!!
This Planet Robot is approx 9" tall.
Wind-up and as he walks, there's some sparks flashing inside the head.

SPACE WALK MAN
Model : ME 100
Size : 31cm (H)

This is a reproduction of a famous Japanese Robot from the 1950s.
This 12" tall robot (aka Mr D Cell) required two "D" batteries.
He walks and his body is able to turns before opening up his chest with glowing guns and shooting sounds.
I was quite excited when the seller demonstrates his robot.
Simple old toys can bring lots of joy!
Then it was which colour to get! There was "Black, Dark Silver, Light Silver, Red and Blue."
Actually I was deciding between "Dark Silver" or "Red" and chose red, because not many robots comes in red.
It'll be easier for me to another type of robot in Silver color.

SMOKING ROBOTS
Brand : Ha Ha Toy
Model : TR 2011
Size : 30cm (H)

Smoking Spaceman was designed in the 1950's by Rikizo Miyazawa.
This 12" tall & solid looking robot is powered by two "D" batteries at his legs.
As he walks forward with blinking eyes, you be able to see some smokes releases from his mouth!
The moment the smoke comes out I was so amazed!!!
I'm completely taken in and it's a must have for my collection.
I'm in love with Robots now! Hee, hee...LOL!!!

Singapore Toy Museums

Singapore have a few toy Museums.
I've posted in on my main blog, so if you are interest, click on the link below

Museum of Toys

Museum of Shanghai Toys (MoST)

Enter into a World of Toys ...

Museum of Shanghai Toys (MoST)

I was at the Museum of Shanghai Toys (MoST) yesterday afternoon.
This Museum resides at 83 Rowell Road.
A 3-storey shop house that houses many old chinese collectibles toys.
Ranging from 1910s - 1970s.
I am very impressed with the interior design and display of the toys.
They utilised every corner of the shophouse and magically turns it into a very nice place.
The 1st storey is the Museum shop that sells many toys and replicas of old tin toys.
2nd storey contains the largest display of Mr Marvin Chan(Director/Collector)years of collections.
My favourite has to be a Room in the 3rd storey.
Makes one feel likes walking back into time.
Very retro feeling and genuine!
It was an entire different feeling.
Feeling like I've walked into my previous old home.
In fact, during my childhood, I was just living about 2 streets down at Pasar Lane.
It was torn down in the early 1990s.
Ok, back to this museum, some of the toys are display on shelfs, not locked inside a glass cabinets, so one could actually touch some of these toys, which I think it good and makes the visit real!
Another thing worth mentioning is the passport book (12 pages) from the Museum.
Get one at the 1st storey ticketing counter at S$1.50.
You'll get to do some stamping work but first you gotta search for the correct stamp chop! It's fun!!!
The photo belows shows the passport book. That's my little book I've stamped. Hee Hee!

This is the 3rd storey room!!! Must visit! The cabinets also displays lots of tin robots.

This is the first time I see this type of milk bottle. Funny shaped!

My visit was a pleasant one and I highly recommend people with an interest in nostalgia's collectibles to visit too!
The people there are very friendly and willing to share the history of toys with visitors.
I also brought a blue tin robot, my very first replica tin robot!
Aha...I am so attracted to Robots!!!

SMURFS

While packing my house, I came across some toys that had accompanied me through my childhood.
As an only child, I spent my time playing with toys.
How time files... I am probably about 7 or 8 years old when I first purchased these Smurfs.
Every time when I have saved enough money for one Smurf, I would visit the store.
One by one, I brought one blue smurf on each visit.
I'm glad I still have these smurfs with me now!
Lots of remembrances.

Top Left to Right :
1st Row - Carpenter Smurf, Hiker Smurf, Cowgirl Smurf,
2nd Row - (Name Unknown), Angry Smurf, Axe Smurf, Normal Smurf, Astro Smurf,
3rd Row - Secretary Smurfette, Hamburger Smurf, Papa Lab Glasses Smurf, (Name Unknown)

Astro Smurf
This was the 1st Smurf I've purchased.
Which was about 20 over years ago...

Angry Smurf
A Smurf was stung by a black fly that turns his skin black, plus driving him insane. An angry smurf would bite other Smurfs on their tail and turns them into Black Smurfs.
