Balance!

With all the positives posts flooding round the web. Coaches teaching people to be 100% positives. I am not saying it's bad, somehow I feel negativity should also be inclusive in some way. If seeing all positives, one might paint a picture too perfect. Let's face it, life really is never going to be exactly like as one wishes because we are all linked in some ways, which thus affects everything. How is one to face it when bad things happens when the person is still in the picture perfect frame? Batteries worked with plus and minus! With Positive in bad times will help to pull one through, to not give up, to carry on. With Negative in good times will help one to stay humble, be forewarn of possible crisis. It is about BALANCE! P50% & N50%? P60% or N40%? P100% only? It's different for everyone. Just find the right combo that worked for yourself that makes you feel good and comfortable. Be Kind & Pray, everything else will fall into it's right place. What's meant to be will always find a way.

Little update on my side

Haven't been blogging much these days.
My mood was not good either.
Well it all had to be traced back to last month, Friday the 13th!
I came home in the afternoon, on my computer and it just wouldn't start up.
The first thing that came to my mind was .... Ahhhhhhh, I haven't backup my files and photos.
Oh no.... oh no...........
The system prompt me to select this, select that...etc.
The error code flashed as fast as lighting speed and I couldn't pause it to write it down.
So I called the Fujitsu customer service but the technican who picked up the phone was not helpful at all.
He plainly said "Just bring it down and we'll check it for you."
As if it's not going to cost me a bomb bring it down to them.
I could actually chose to reformatted the entire disk since the computer was still able to boot up but I need to try to see if I can rescue my photos files first.
No choice, I brought my lifebook to a computer repair shop.
The guy told me it's 99% harddisk failure.
I got my harddisk replaced at $110 but if I want to retrieve my data, it's another 60 dollars.
Seeing that I didn't want to pay another $60, he offered to charged me $10 for retrieving some part of the files which are more important.
Good thing was that I was able to get some of my photo files back but I just realised yesterday that I've not back up some of my Star Wars collectibles photos that I've recently taken...

Followed by the next day that my computer crashed, my entire marine fish tank got wiped out. All the fishes died. One even jump out of the tank and got itself killed.
I test the water, the ph...etc.
Couldn't indenitify the problem.
Cleaned the tank and refill it with new saltwater.
I let it run for another week and brought some damsels fish to try again.
It happened just like before, one by one they died.
I still couldn't identify the problem except that I've found one that got fungus.
Though I've been keeping marine fishes on and off for 15 over years now, this time I'm really at a loss.
Decided that I wouldn't want to harm anymore of the little fishes, I cleaned out the entire tank.

My dog kept bitting newspaper and eating it, worried that would upset her stomach.

Car insurance rose sky high!

Buy new electrical extenstion plug, new plug also spolit.

Then there are still many bits and pieces of here and there - unhappiness ... which I don't think I would continue to write. Money, family, health...etc. I just hope that all will be bettter soon.

It's a HOT HOT day!

It's so hot in Singapore now and I think I'm going to "MELT"!
Wahhhhhh...even sitting in the living room with a fan blowing directly at me, I still feel the heat!
Had wanted to go swimming but I figured that I'm way too oversized to get into my wetsuit now.
Don't want to burst it, after all I've only used it only once for diving.
Cold water drink already, Ice-cream also eat already...Wah, no use!
This heat is really retarding my movements too!!
I'm sorry about all this complain but the heat is really driving me craxy!
My pet rabbit, Onyx is also molting like crazy, shedding lots of fur, I wonder if he'll be naked in the next few days. Poor rabbit!
I bathed him yesterday and it was the first time he just stay put at the sink and seemed to enjoy the bath!
What do you do when your environment is hot?
I thought of some ideas about staying cool but never did try them all.

Here some of the ideas for staying COOL :


WATCHING MOVIES - Watching movies that it related to cool environments, like "Ice Age", "March of the penguins" and maybe Christmas theme movies, afterall Christmas is in winter time!


ICE GEL PACK - Use a thin cloth, wrap it up and then put it on the forehead (as if you are having a fever).

MORE SHOWERS - I had three yesterday but it doesn't seems to help much. Maybe I'll have 5 today!!

AQUARIUM - Watching fishes!

OFF LIGHTS - Off unneccesary lights in the house.

MOPPING THE HOUSE - Add ice cubes into the pail of water before mopping. Seemed to COOL down the house.


MCDONALD - Order cold drink, ice-cream...etc. and sit there for hours to surf internet. Free Aircon!

SHOPPING CENTRE - Free Aircon but probably end up spending more money at the malls, so it's really not a good choice!

MIND POWER - Think COOL but for me, it really don't work!

A visit to the dentist

2 days ago, monday, I went to the dentist to have my toothache examine.
It was my upper left wisdom tooth.
There are good news and bad news.
Bad news is that my tooth is beyond repair...
Fillings can't be done as only less than half of the tooth is left.
Good news is that I don't have to pluck it immediately, which means I still have a choice...
But ultimately, it needs an extraction.
So, I said "Ok...do it today!"
Sounds brave huh?
But in the next one minute, when I was lying on the dental chair.
My hands started shaking.
It was embrassing, so I folded my arms.
But the experienced dentist noticed and asked if I was scared.
I replied "a little"...which I lied. I was very scared!
Never did I ever felt this way before.
I was never afraid of visiting dental and I had had my teeth extracted before.
Often visit the dentist for regular washing and fillings too.
But maybe, this time was different as it's my wisdom tooth.
Heard many awful stories about people extracting wisdom tooth.
To think that I've had 4 wisdom tooth, this fall into the list one of my biggest fears - Extracting Wisdom Tooth.
I was like worried for about 15 years and the day arrived!

After 2 injection and about 15 minutes later, my gums started to feel numb.
My dentist came into the room.
By now, I've become more calm and my hands aren't shaking already.
He started pulling my tooth...
Arrggguuuugghhh... it was very painful.
So I raised my hand and stopped the dentist.
100 times worse pain than my toothache.
At the moment, I really regret the extraction.
I could well live with my toothache, I thought.
Then the dentist gave me another injection.
He said he was only shaking the teeth earlier.
I just nodded.
Inside, I was thinking, Shaking only... already so pain.
I'll probably faint from the extraction then!
About 2 minutes later, he started to extract my wisdom tooth.
My heart started to beat faster...
But this time, it's was ok.
The pain was bearable and before I knew it, my wisdom tooth was out.
He said, "Ok, can rinse your mouth."
Those were like magical words.
Finally it's OVER!
A visit to the dentist wasn't what I imagined to be so terrifying after all.
To think I was only in the dental room for less than half an hour but had fear it for 15 years.
As compared, my mind fear is more toturing.

Lunar New Year Chinatown 2009

I was at Chinatown a few hours ago.
Last minute decision, so I didn't bring my camera.
The pictures you see here were taken using my handphone camera.
Went there to see if there's anything for this year lunar new year and also have my favourite chicken rice for dinner.
I find that this year, there are lesser stalls and so are the people.
Probably due to this bad economy downturn.
But it is still a nice place to visit during the lunar new year.
I noticed that the vendors this year like to say :
"Free sample, come try... don't walk so fast, come try..."
The "don't walk so fast" sentence got my attention!
Then I started to notice, business seems quite a challenge this year.
Most people are just walking, looking around..empty handed.
Not much purchasing this year, I guessed.
Tomorrow it will be the last day, on the eve of lunar new year.
There will be a TV live celebration there with countdown to the coming year.
Afterwhich, more people are expected to go there after midnight.
Stall vendors would try to sell off everything, then packed up, and clear out by early morning.

Lots of stalls are now selling Taiwan products like mochi, candies, soft jelly...etc.
As compared to last year, this year's price is probably about 20%-40% cheaper.

Many believe that sticking this red paper on the house doors, walls...etc is auspicious during the new year.

These set of horror books have been my favourite.
It been with me for about 20 years now.
I've just rewraped the plastic cover but the books now are still in a rather bad condition.
All the pages turn brownish!
Althought it's a young adult horror book, I still enjoy reading it now.
Back the the days when...
I brought these books using my save up lunch pocket money.
I was getting S$1.00 a day in Primary School in the 1980s.
A book cost about S$5.00 at that time.
I mostly brought it in a second hand bookstore near my school.
So it was like getting one book every two weeks whenever I've save up enough.
Maybe buying these was not easy so I extra treasured it.
Some titles were hard to find and the one that took me the longest to find was "Swamp Witch".
I was then in Secondary 1 or 2 when I've finally found this book and thus completed my dark forces collection.
Many favorites in this series are "The Doll", " Devil Wind" and "Ashton Horror"

Blogging just another day!

I usually don't write too much about myself or what I do!
Simply because I don't think anyone would be interested!
I'm still sticking my personal stuff to an old little diary.
Does anyone still have the habit of writting a diary book?
If you've noticed or been reading, I'm always talking about toys!
I feel it's much more comfortable writting something leisurely.
Anyway, it was created in the first place as a blog about toys.
It's now about 6pm. Going out soon for dinner!
How time files...
I've spent my entire afternoon reading other's blogs.
Leaving comments when I stumbled upon blogs I like.
Recently, I found some blogs from our local TV stars.
Some are quite interesting and it also gave us an opporunity to know more about the stars.
I think it is also good for them to have a place to express themselves.
A place for them to interact with their fans.
To let fans know first hand about their feelings and thoughts...etc.
Better than to have some newspapers create a big woo-ha of something irrelevant or FAKE news.
Blogging could well be a de-stressing place for them.
Does blogging makes you less stress? Or more stress?

Blogging sometimes does makes me less stressful.
Makes me forget about the stress about life, work, money, people...etc.
Because it occupies so much of my time taking pictures, uploading pictures, think of what to write, what to post...etc.

Aha... all I can say is I still enjoy blogging as much as when I just started!

Have been quite busy lately as I've just found a job.
Started last week and was immediately sent to the project job site.
Doing my old trade - Mechanical Engineering.
Dislike not about the nature of the job but about the working environment.
I was in this line since 1995 but left a couple of years ago.
Basically, you are expected to stay late everyday and do overtime...
Imagine 8.30am to 5.30pm (1 hour lunch break) and have to continue till 8pm or 9pm?
I need time on my own, my life, be with my friends and pets!
Won't go into details of my work and I really don't think I'll be able to last long there.

I need a change. A life I can really want and be happy.
I need a TRANSFORMATION!

I brought this series of Star Wars Transformers because of the Vehicle outlook.
Not so much about whether it can transform or not. It's not so important.
I would still prefer to have a Optimus Prime or BubbleBee that can transforms instead of Star Wars.

I still remember clearly that when I first saw this SW transformers set in 2006, I wasn't at all impressed. In fact, I thought it look weird with Han Solo's face turning all metallic silver and Chewbacca's hair was like stuck in hard metallic hair gel!
So I simply forget the existence of this set.
But it was only till last week that I realized that this can be transform into the Millennium Falcon.
Oh, I must be blind that time...hahaa!
Prices on the web seems very attractive but shipping cost was quite expensive as it's quite a big one.
I then started to visit local toy stores and I was very glad to have found it yesterday!
Now the more I see it and more I like it...heehee.
Three years before and 3 years later... I do have drastic change in view! LOL!
